about Derek
Those who know Derek Schreck describe him as a multi-discipline savant. After an early career in acting and investment banking, he turned his sights toward his lifelong penchant for interior design in 2013 when he purchased historic Tom Bergin’s Tavern in Los Angeles, CA.
He painstakingly restored it to its original 1930s Old Hollywood details while modernizing it to become a functional high end pub. In 2016, he added a second-story private whiskey club, Vestry, showcasing the rarest collection of North American whiskeys in the world. In doing so, he realized his true passions lay in design and sold the bar and restaurant. So began Weather Vane, offering commercial and residential design.
Among clients and friends, Derek has become known for his ability to bring together eclectic elements of varying design styles and eras to create spaces that are truly unique – rustic and refined, eclectic and tasteful, classic and refreshingly quirky, impressive and welcoming.
